Amarillo College Names New Vice President

Amarillo College officials have appointed a new vice president.

On Thursday, AC announced the appointment of Cheryl Jones as vice president of employee and organizational development for Amarillo College. Jones, a longtime staff member at Baptist St. Anthony’s, was named to the job to replace the recently resigned Lyndy Forrester, whose last day is December 31st.

In a statement, Jones said she is excited at the prospect of joining the Amarillo College administration and looks forward to the job that awaits her.

“The values of the College align with my own,” Jones said. “I look forward to supporting the extraordinary AC workforce and contributing to the wonderful efforts of the organization that is striving in so many ways to elevate not only our students, but our entire community.”

A graduate of Abilene Christian University and West Texas A&M University, Jones was also hailed as a “capable and highly valued choice” by college president Russell Lowery-Hart.

Jones’ appointment will still need approval by the Board of Regents before becoming official. It is not clear when the Board of Regents will consider her appointment.
