Abbott, O'Rourke Favored Among WTAMU Students

A survey from a professor at West Texas A&M University has Governor Greg Abbott and Congressman Beto O’Rourke as the favorites in their respective races, with just weeks before election day.

In a survey conducted by Dr. Dave Rausch at WTAMU, students turned in votes, accounting for what the professor called “not surprising” results. Students chose Governor Greg Abbott, a Republican, as the favorite over Democrat Lupe Valdez, 47 percent to 29 percent in the race for governor. Libertarian Mark Tippetts netted around 13 percent.

Meanwhile, in the race for governor, Democrat Beto O’Rourke is the slim favorite over Republican incumbent Ted Cruz, leading 46 percent to 43 percent. Libertarian Neal Dikeman won around 7 percent.

One respondent said their voting preferences were “none of Rausch’s business.”
