Amarillo Police Searching for Bank Robbery Suspect

The Amarillo Police Department is seeking the public's help in finding a suspect who was involved in a bank robbery on Thursday.

According to APD, officers and the APD Robbery Squad were dispatched to the First United Bank (1900 Southeast 34th Avenue) on Thursday around 3:00pm. When officers arrived, they found that a suspect had entered the bank with a bandana pulled up on his face. He carried a small silver handgun and announced that he intended to rob the bank. He placed a while cloth bag on the counter and demanded money.

During the robbery, the suspect threatened to shoot bank employees. After obtaining money, he told the employees to get down on the floor and he left the scene. Officers say it is believed that he rank south from the bank, possible on South Ross Street.

The suspect is described as being a Hispanic male about six feet tall, wearing a camouflage hat, dark bandana, sunglasses, blue coat, and blue jeans.

No one was injured in the incident and there have been no arrests.
