Congressman Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon) voted to table impeachment proceedings aimed at President Donald Trump on Friday.
On Friday, Thornberry joined a majority of the U.S. House of Representatives in tabling a bill calling for impeachment proceedings against President Trump for "high misdemeanors." The bill, proposed by Congressman Al Green (D-Houston), was the second such bill proposed in recent months by the Houston congressman. Green said that he decided to reintroduce articles of impeachment following a comment allegedly made by Trump in which he called some other countries "shitholes."
The U.S. House of Representatives voted 355-66 to table to motion, effectively killing it. 121 Democrats and 234 Republicans voted to table the motion, while 66 Democrats voted against tabling. Three Democrats also voted "Present."
