Canyon Independent School District will soon own Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.
During last night's meeting, the Canyon ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to purchase the stadium from West Texas A&M University for $500,000. The agreement to purchase the stadium also comes with an agreement for Canyon ISD to take ownership of the land surrounding the stadium.
Canyon ISD has previously had a lease on the stadium through the Texas A&M University system.
It is currently unclear on whether the school district plans to make any significant upgrades to the stadium.
The Buffs are reportedly planning to be moved out of the stadium by 2018, in time to move into the planned Buff Stadium in 2019.
