Former Midland Mayor Mike Canon announced his intention to again run for Texas State Senate against incumbent Kel Seliger in 2018.
Canon announced in May that he would run again and began last week a push for fundraising in his bid to unseat the incumbent Seliger. Canon has touted his "conservative principles" and has said that his top issues will be limited government, lower taxes, the right to life, and border security.
Canon previously ran against Seliger for the seat in 2014. According to the Texas Secretary of State's office, Seliger topped Canon, 53 percent to 47 percent.
Canon is Seliger's only announced opponent, thus far.
