Community Leaders to be "Locked Up" for Charity

Some local community leaders will be "behind bars" tomorrow afternoon while raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Various community leaders will be put behind bars at 11am tomorrow at the Texas Roadhouse while they raise money for "bail" to support the MDA. Funds raised will be used to help free kids and adults from the harm of muscular dystrophy. Funds raised will also be used to make the MDA Summer Camp available for local children.

The jailbirds will be turning themselves in after being served "MDA warrants" by off-duty officers of the Amarillo Police Department.

The lock up event is a nationwide event and raised $10.3 million last year. This year, local jailbirds are seeking to raise $5,000 more than the previous year for a total of $25,000.

Tomorrow's event will last until 2pm.For more information, you are asked to contact the Amarillo Director of Business Development at 806-401-4213 or email cnichols@mdausa.org.
