District 31 Race Considered "Key" by Texas Tribune

The Texas Senate race pitting Senator Kel Seliger (R-Amarillo) against Midland Mayor Mike Canon has been called a "key" race by the Texas Tribune.

In an article regarding campaign finance reports, Seliger and Canon's race was called a "key" race to watch in Texas. During the last reporting period, Seliger did not raise any contributions but did hold a warchest of $1.7 million. Canon raised $73,000, bringing his on-hand total to $89,000.

Seliger and Canon faced off in the 2014 Republican primary for the Senate District 31 spot and are set for a rematch in March of 2018. In that race, Seliger bested Canon, 53 percent to 47 percent.

Candidates interested in running for state senator still have until December to officially file for a place on the ballot.
