WTAMU's Kaputin Earns Athlete of the Year Honors

West Texas A&M University's Ellie Kaputin has been honored with the title of Athlete of the Year by the Lone Star Conference.

Kaputin was named the 2017 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field Women's Field Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year on Friday, adding to her impressive run this year. Kaputin helped the Lady Buffs win their first national title in program history at the NCAA Division II Championships. She also claimed the national championship in the triple jump and has highlighted three All-American performances.

The Papua New Guinea native was chosen for the honor by a vote of the league's head coaches.

The coaches also honored Angelo State University's Kenneth Turner and Nils Fisher with the top track and field honors, respectively.
