Texas' Cashner Hit by Bat in Loss to Cleveland

The Texas Rangers' pitcher Andrew Cashner was hit by a piece of a broken bat during yesterday's 1-5 loss to the Cleveland Indians.

While pitching in the sixth inning, Indians batter Edwin Encarnacion hit a pitch that broke his bat. A piece of the bat when flying at the mound and hit Cashner in his throwing arm. The incident occurred during Cashner's first game since being activated from the disabled list.

After the game, Cashner said, "The elbow is a little sore but I'll be alright."

The Ranger were unable to pull out the win last night in Cleveland, losing the series 1-2. The Rangers will look to rebound tonight against the White Sox in Chicago. That game will be broadcast on FSSW.
