Stefano Files to Run Against Ted Cruz

A Houston energy attorney has filed to challenge Senator Ted Cruz in the 2018 U.S. Senate race in Texas.

Stefano de Stefano filed the paperwork earlier this month to challenge Cruz for the Republican nomination for the Senate seat in 2018. The Committee to Elect Stefano de Stefano is Stefano's principal campaign organization as he challenge's Cruz.

According to a post to Stefano's website, he is challenging Cruz because "Ted has failed to represent the people of Texas and our interests."

Stefano says that he "won’t sit idly by while Ted prepares to chase his second Presidential participation trophy on the backs of my fellow Texans."

Stefano has not returned The Amarillo Pioneer's requests for an interview.

Stefano joins Senator Ted Cruz and Democratic Congressman Beto O'Rourke as an announced candidate for the race. Candidates have until December 11th to file to run.
