Amarillo Police Gear Up for Click It or Ticket

Amarillo's Police Department is gearing up for the Click It or Ticket campaign that will launch on Monday.

The annual campaign is seen nationwide as local police and transportation entities encourage drivers and passengers to take advantage of seat belts. If a driver or passenger is caught not wearing a seatbelt, penalties will be strict. APD says that extra officers will be out on patrol, as part of the Click It or Ticket campaign.

Texas law requires that every passenger in a vehicle be secured with a safety belt. Children under the age of 8 years are required to ride in a child safety seat or booster seat unless the child is taller than 4-foot-9. The child seat must be used properly as directed by the manufacturer's instructions. Seat belts are also required to be worn properly. A seat belt worn under an arm is illegal.

The Click It or Ticket campaign will start on Monday and will continue through Sunday, June 4th.
