AISD Swears in New Trustees for Four Year Terms

The new Amarillo Independent School District Board of Trustees took office during last night's board meeting.

The board officially canvassed the results of the May 6th election and held a swearing-in for AISD incumbents James Allen, John Ben Blanchard and Renee McCown. Newcomer Cristy Cooper Wilkinson also took her spot on the board, as the board recognized departing trustee Eric Darnell. Darnellhad served on the AISD Board of Trustees since 2013.

During the board's meeting, AISD Trustees also discussed the tax rate for the upcoming fiscal year along with various budgetary items. There was also some talk over a future bond election for the school district.
