Les Simpson has resigned from the board of the Local Government Corporation.
Simpson, publisher of the Amarillo Globe-News tendered a letter of resignation to the board this week. Simpson wrote that after serving two terms on the board, he has decided that it is time to "step off."
Simpson has served on the Amarillo Local Government Corporation since the board's creation in April of 2011.
The Local Government Corporation has been responsible for the progression of the downtown catalyst project and other ventures in the downtown Amarillo area.
Simpson's replacement will be appointed by the City Council.
