Cruz $4.2 Million for Senate Re-Election Bid

Senator Ted Cruz is reporting his new fundraising haul for his upcoming re-election bid to the U.S. Senate.

Cruz has raised $4.2 million for his campaign, according to the Texas Tribune. About $780,000 of his war chest was raised during the final quarter of 2016.

Since the summer, Cruz's presidential campaign has also transferred about $3.6 million to his senate campaign.

Cruz's report comes as potential challengers have announced their interest in taking on the Senator. Congressman Michael McCaul, a Republican, and Congressmen Joaquin Castro and Beto O'Rourke, both Democrats, have announced their interest in challenging Cruz, according to the Texas Tribune.
