Schenck Makes Candidacy Official

James Schenck made his candidacy for Amarillo City Council official today, by filing the necessary paperwork to run for office.

According to City Secretary Frances Hibbs, Schenck filed his paperwork to seek City Council Place 2, today. Place 2 is currently held by Lisa Blake, who is retiring.

Schenck also kicked off his campaign today with a rally at the Comfort Suites at 12 Western Plaza Drive. The rally was attended by a crowd about 30 people.

Schenck will currently be facing Freda Powell for the spot. Powell, who recently announced her intention to seek the seat, is endorsed by Blake.
