Herman Draws Two Challengers

Judge Rich Herman has drawn two challengers in his 2018 bid for re-election.

Herman, the Republican Justice of the Peace for Potter's 2nd precinct, announced his re-election bid earlier this year and drew two challengers at the time of filing deadline on Monday. On the Republican side, police officer Robert Taylor filed to challenge Herman. Taylor, a former Democrat, filed his application on Monday with the Potter Republican Party to earn a spot on the ballot.

On the Democratic side, Claudia Griego filed to challenge Herman as a Democrat in Precinct 2. Griego's filing means that Precinct 2 will see its second contested race for the office in four years, as Herman defeated incumbent Democrat Judge Nancy Bosquez in 2014.

The Republican primary will be held on March 6th. Nominees from both parties will meet to face off on November 6th.
