Summer Youth Musical to End Run

A popular summer program for theatregoers in Amarillo will soon be coming to a close.

Amarillo College's Summer Youth Musical will be presenting its final production this summer. The announced production, "The Secret Garden," will be the final show in the series' longtime run.

Director Linda Hughes made the announcement on Wednesday that, due to her retirement, Summer Youth Musical will be ending its run.

"My life has been so blessed with all of you in it. My life in the theatre has been a pure joy," Hughes wrote in a Facebook post. "But I know that it is time for Summer Youth Musical to end."

Prior to the 2018 auditions for the show, an audition workshop will be held for area youth who would like to take part in "The Secret Garden." The workshop will be held on January 20th in the Amarillo College Concert Hall Theatre. Auditions will be held on February 24th and 25th in Ordway Hall of Amarillo College's West Campus.

Audition packets are available at the Amarillo College Conservatory Theatre.
