Amarillo High School's head football coach, Mel Maxfield, has resigned.

According to, Maxfield has served as head football coach at Amarillo High School since 2010.

Maxfield's resignation is the second resignation to occur at Amarillo High School over the past week. Earlier this week, Jan Baker, Amarillo High's volleyball coach, announced her resignation from the school.
