Texas Right to Life Backs Slate of Local Challengers

An influential Texas political group has backed a slate of challengers to several local legislators.

Texas Right to Life, an influential pro-life organization, announced this week that it plans to support a group of candidates opposing several local legislators. The organization is backing restaurateur Victor Leal and former Midland mayor Mike Canon in the race for Texas Senate District 31. Leal and Canon, both Republican candidates, are challenging incumbent senator Kel Seliger (R-Amarillo).

For the Texas House of Representatives, Right to Life is supporting Drew Brassfield in the race for Texas House District 87. Brassfield, the city manager for Fritch, is running against incumbent Representative Four Price (R-Amarillo). The Right to Life endorsement is the second endorsement that Brassfield has picked up since announcing his candidacy. Brassfield also picked up the endorsement of Texans for Fiscal Responsibility earlier this year.

In the campaign for District 88, Texas Right to Life announced that it is supporting Jason Huddleston. Huddleston, a Perryton insurance broker, is challenging incumbent Representative Ken King (R-Canadian).
