Mike Canon, former mayor of Midland, has officially filed to run for the State Senate for District 31 in 2018.
Canon filed on Tuesday to run in the Republican primary for the seat in 2018. Canon previously ran for the spot in 2014, coming in a few points shy of Senator Kel Seliger’s vote total.
The third candidate to file for the seat, Canon is facing Senator Kel Seliger and Amarillo restaurateur Victor Leal in the Republican primary. No Democrats have filed to run for the spot in 2018.
Candidates have until December 11th to file for a spot on the ballot.
