The Abilene City Council has voted to rename the Abilene Civic Center.
The Abilene Civic Center will now be named the Abilene Convention Center. The Abilene Reporter News is reporting that the City Council will not be changing the signs of the facility, however, due to the fact that the Council may rename the facility in someone's honor.
The Civic Center's name change comes as a way to attract more conventions to Abilene. Abilene is currently considering building a convention hotel next door to the facility.
