Amarillo City Council Moves Forward With City Manager Search

The Amarillo City Council is moving forward with finding a new City Manager.

According to a report from amarillo.gov, the City Council reportedly received 30 applications for the job, following the departure of former Interim City Manager Terry Childers. The Council is now moving forward with narrowing a pool of candidates to interview on January 9th and 10th.

City Councilmember Randy Burkett reacted positively to the process, on Facebook, saying "Sort of funny how the press has said nobody wants to come to Amarillo. Well we had 30 candidates apply for our City Manager job recently. Lots of great choices. Look forward to hiring a permanent Manager by mid January."

According to a press release from the City, the final prospective candidates for the job will be released, after the City's consultant has given the candidates notice to notify their employers.

We will bring you more updates on Amarillo's City Manager search, as they become available.
