Former Texas Governor Rick Perry will be nominated for Secretary of Energy, according to NBC News.
Perry, who served nearly 3 and a half terms as Governor of Texas, will reportedly be President-elect Donald Trump's choice for the cabinet spot. Perry had been a loyal backer of Trump, since Trump clinched the Republican nomination, in May. Perry had also been a candidate for President of the United States, in 2016, first endorsing Senator Ted Cruz, following his departure from the race.
Perry's nomination comes as Trump has also nominated another Texan for a key cabinet spot. Rex W. Tillerson, CEO of Exxon Mobile has been nominated for Secretary of State. Tillerson is a resident of Wichita Falls.
