Why did you decide to run for this office in 2026?

I decided to run because Texans deserve transparency, fairness, and accountability in how a $338 billion state budget is managed. For too long, working families have felt the impact of decisions they were never part of. As a school board trustee overseeing large public budgets, a teacher in the classroom, and a small business owner, I see firsthand how state funding decisions affect everyday Texans. I am running to make sure tax dollars work for the people who earn them and that communities across Texas are no longer left behind.

If elected, what will be your top three priorities in office?

Transparency and accountability in state spending so Texans can clearly see where their tax dollars go.

Fully funding public education, including K–12, community colleges, and state universities, so every student has a real opportunity to succeed.

Expanding broadband access and restoring the Texas HUB program so small businesses, rural communities, veterans, women, and minority-owned businesses can compete and grow statewide.

What is an issue you believe has gone overlooked in your race and how will you address it if elected?

An overlooked issue in this race is how much power the Comptroller’s office has in shaping opportunity through data, contracts, and access to information. Many Texans do not realize this office directly impacts school funding formulas, state contracts, disaster recovery, and broadband investment. If elected, I will modernize how information is shared, make data easier to understand, and ensure that communities and small businesses know how to access the resources they are already entitled to.

Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position?

I bring a rare combination of lived experience and professional responsibility. I am a former Army Ranger, a Howard University graduate, a public school teacher, a business owner, and a currently elected HISD Trustee overseeing large public budgets. I understand discipline, integrity, and service. I understand classrooms, payrolls, and balance sheets. Most importantly, I understand the realities facing working Texans because I live them. This office requires trust, competence, and character, and I am prepared to deliver all three.
