Why did you decide to run for this office in 2026?
I decided to run for Potter County Judge at this moment because the retirement of Judge Nancy Tanner creates an important transition for the county. The Commissioners Court has been doing good work, and that work deserves continuity and steady leadership.
At the same time, Potter County is facing serious challenges that require careful attention. The county is navigating a fiscal crisis, a declining population, and the need to strengthen the tax base in ways that are responsible and measured. Any approach must protect taxpayers while positioning the county for long-term stability.
If elected, what will be your top three priorities in office?
1. Expanding the tax base in Potter County; seeking creative solutions for the future of Potter County in the form of housing, industry and technology.
2. Focus on building systems and structures that will serve Potter County for the near and distant future.
3. Review and lead in authoring a long-range plan for Potter County that will bring us not only on par with our neighboring county to the south, but exceed expectations of our residents.
What is an issue you believe has gone overlooked in your race and how will you address it if elected?
Potter County is due for a comprehensive review of employee salaries and benefits to make them competitive with surrounding counties and counties of similar size/tax base. We must treat our employees fairly and no one working for Potter County should be making a wage that qualifies them for public assistance. This is to ensure that we retain the talent currently in our employ and also attract the most qualified candidates for our departments with openings. This will require budgeting creativity and careful assessment of our need vs. income.

Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position?
Although the title includes the word “Judge,” the County Judge serves as the county’s chief executive. The role requires steady leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to balance many responsibilities at once.
I have the experience needed to carry out each of those responsibilities, including presiding over Commissioners Court, handling probate, guardianship, and mental health matters, and providing emergency management leadership. I am the only candidate with that broad experience. My approach is practical, prepared, and focused on serving the county as a whole.
