Joe Glen Montgomery

Joe Glen Montgomery, 88, of Amarillo died Sunday, September 23, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers.

Joe was born February 19, 1930 in Sayre, OK to Sam and Bessie Montgomery. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged on April 22, 1953. He married Charlene Van Klaveren shortly thereafter. Together, they raised 3 daughters and made Amarillo their home. Joe worked for many years as a Senior Ticket Agent at Continental Trailways. Joe met and married Dorothy Karlin in 2005. After retirement, he kept himself busy working and running errands for Stewart Title.

“Peepa” loved being with his family and did a lot of listening. He loved “Ma-noodle” or better known as Menudo. He made sure to always let you know, his name was Joe Glen “with 1 N”. He made sure his family had what they needed, you could talk to him about anything and knew when you walked away there was never any judgment. His table and home were always open. He had the sweetest smile and the bluest eyes.

He is preceded in death by his dear wife, Dorothy; his parents; and 2 brothers, Jim and Wayne.

Joe is survived by his very best friends and grandsons, Brandon Ammons and Rick Mendoza; daughters, Madelene Chavez and husband, Art, Sherrie Jacobson and husband Nick, and Trisha Golden; grandchildren, Sarah Weathers and husband, Ricky, Chelsea Dahl, Haley Dahl and Tyler Jacobson; 4 great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Travis, Kanton and Tripp; and many nephews, extended family and friends.
