Two political action committees have lined up to push voters to support their positions for the upcoming Amarillo ISD bond elections.

Last week, Amarillo Kids First SPAC and Save Amarillo PAC announced their positions for the upcoming school bond elections. Amarillo Kids First SPAC will be pushing a “for” vote on all four bond issues, while Save Amarillo will be asking voters to oppose each bond issue.

Amarillo Kids First SPAC is a specific purpose political action committee, which means it was formed just for this upcoming election. Once the election concludes, regardless of whether the items pass or fail, the organization is expected to sunset and dissolve, as is the case with most SPACs.

Meanwhile, Save Amarillo has opposed several past bond elections in Amarillo and will once again be opposing this bond election, focusing its efforts on criticizing the large tax increase that would be associated with the passage of the items.

The election will be held on Saturday, May 7.
