The Texas REALTOR PAC's support of Howard Smith for City Council Place 4 was greater than what was initially reported prior to the election, according to a June finance report by the political action committee.
According to campaign finance reports, the political action committee spent $42,000 and $12,500 on April 12th with ORRA SGS in support of Smith. Those numbers were initially reported prior to the May 6th election day, but an extra $54,500 was spent on April 26th in support of Smith. This made the City Council Place 4 race one of the most expensive races in Texas for the Texas REALTOR PAC during the May election.
According to Texas REALTOR PAC's website, the PAC supports candidates who "have a proven track record of protecting private-property rights, preserving the dream of homeownership, and supporting the vitality of the real estate industry."
Smith defeated incumbent City Councilman Mark Nair in the May 6th election, winning 71 percent to Nair's 29 percent.
